Electric railways

Here we post relevant content related to high speed rail, metro, tramway, monorail and mainline, powered with electricity aiming to share their importance within electric mobility giving cleaner skies and healthier air to countries and cities that are integrating any of these components, when planning urban and regional projects for their transportation infrastructure.

Electric Mobility in Mexico is growing with a new sustainable project called “Tren Maya” connecting strategic points in 5 southern states of Mexico: Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo.

The consortium formed by Bombardier, Gami, Alstom and Construcciones Urales has won the international public tender for the acquisition of 42 trains, which will be produced and assembled mostly within the national territory. According to the official page of the technical project of the Mayan Train.

Alstom’s Model X’Trapolis, standard speed of 120km/h and top speed of 160km/h, for up to 300 passengers per wagon, about 4 to 7 carts per convoy.

Alstom

Alstom’s centre of excellence is located in Lecco with more than a century of experience in designing, manufacturing power transmission components for railway infrastructure, power plants and more, best known as Cariboni feeding systems. Among their range of products we can find crucial infrastructure components such as the third rail for metros, the APS ground-level power supply solution for tramways and a variety of catenary components made for tramways and railways including tensioning devices and cantilevers.

We would like to showcase the APS ground-level power supply system, a crucial infrastructure component as one of Lecco´s range of products. Lecco became a site of Alstom in 2008. Now if your goal is to reduce footprints of light rail lines, APS may be your best choice, it will also help to preserve the aesthetics of urban environments because it is catenary-free-tramway.

There are two versions of APS, climate will indicate which one suits best: first one is tropicalized version for extreme climate conditions, ambient temperatures of up to 55 °C, second one will be the standard version which is great for temperate atmospheres.
